E-Books

Dear Colleagues
The first SCoT e-book is now available.
Principles of network and system administration / Burgess
Here are two ways of accessing it
1. If you log into your Athens* account (link below)
https://auth.athensams.net/?ath_returl=%2Fmy%2F&ath_dspid=ATHENS.MY_BETA&ath_err=loggedOut

you will see Myilibrary in the Recent Resources box on the lower right.
Just click there and search for the book by title.
2. Or you can access the e-book through the library catalogue (link below)
http://161.76.217.4/TalisPrism/doSearch.do;jsessionid=8FF60991779F5946E1959CFBD493D290.worker1
If you do a title search, you will find a regular copy and also an e-book. From the e-book record, click on the myilibrary link. You will next see an authentication screen. Click on the Athens link. Enter your Athens username and password and that will bring you into the e-book itself.
*If you don't have an Athens account (which enables you to access the databases from off campus), click on the link below and you will be able to create one.

I have ordered more e-books and they should be accessible shortly. If you check the Myilibrary link periodically when you log onto Athens, you will be able to see the collection grow.

Drop-in Sessions

http://www.uel.ac.uk/lss/contact_us/dropinsessions.htm
Dear Colleagues
I wanted to let you know that the Subject Librarians are now holding daily drop-in sessions focusing on database searching. This will be an permanent addition to our services. We are happy to adapt the sessions to suit students individual needs. See the above link.
I do see quite a few SCoT students during sessions arranged by lecturers, but I am sure that there are still many more who would benefit from a one to one appointment. Please encourage your students to sign up via the library homepage.
