E-book roadshow

Hi all,
Something to watch out for in the next few months......
The library and Learning Services are planning to have an e-book roadshow to promote our collection of e-books to students. This is provisionally planned for the 12th April 2010. At the roadshow librarians will be demonstrating e-books, how to access and use them directly to students.
Please feel free to come along and please make your students aware of the roadshow.
Thank you!

Changes to Digimap

Hi there,
Just to let you all know that there are some changes that will be happening to the Digimap database. Digimap is removing the digimap classic mapping facility from the end of January 2009. If you use Digimap and are registered you should recieve e-mail notification of the changes.
Please be aware that any maps saved in your Classic Map Chest will be removed after the 26th Jan, so make sure that you save these if you still need them.
Digimap classic has been replaced by the new digimap Roam.
Thank you
Ella

Change in library policy

Dear all,
This is to update you all in a change of library policy.
The change concerns our policy on book renewals. In future the library system has been set so that it will automatically renew items that you have on loan. So the good news for you and your students is that this change will hopefully enable you to avoid fines. There will be an e-mail sent to you to say that your items have been renewed for you. The only time that an item is not renewed will be because it is reserved by another user. It is hoped that the new policy will help to encourage students to return items that are reserved by another student.
Please let me know if you have any feedback on the changes, but I think that it is something that will generally be well recieved.
I hope that you all have a lovely christmas break and a happy New Year!

Just to update you all on the progress of the British Standards Online access. The database is now accessible through our databases pages: http://www.uel.ac.uk/lls/resources/databaselistb.htm
I am working to make the database available through our Athens log in. I am hoping this will be available shortly. I will keep you all posted.

New resources

Dear all,
We now have access to the British Standards Online. We are working to get it accessible through your Athens login, however at the moment it is only accessible through the following link: https://bsol.bsigroup.com/en/BsolHomePage/
Thank you, to all of the lecturers that came to the training on the 18th Sept, I hope that you found it useful.
Another resource that I just wanted to draw your attention to is an open access repository called ROSE. It is run by the University of Bristol and seems to have a good collection of Engineering Mathematics and Electrical and Electronic engineering materials. You need to submit your e-mail address to get access, but it is very simple to access. Please take a look: http://rose.bris.ac.uk/dspace/
